Wrigglers

A: This is wild rice, mixed with black rice, and red rice

Me: *inspects it closely*

A: It's definitely rice and not larvae!

Me: Yes, I was just checking it for wrigglers!

A: Rice doesn't wriggle!!

Me: I know that!! That's why I was checking!

...

*getting another spoonful, but removing a loose rice husk on the way*

A: Get your fingers out of it. It's just rice!!

Me: I was. JUST. CHECKING!!!

Oh, this was me as a kid. After watching various scary movies where they play with food hallucinations. Eek!
